"Michelle has been our son, Ivan's, tutor for over six years. Not only has she helped Ivan grow enormously in language arts, she has guided my husband and I through major academic decisions along the way and been the best advocate for Ivan's learning needs in the classroom. As early as Kindergarten, it was clear our son would need interventions in order to help him succeed. Michelle was the major intervention that got Ivan on track and has continued to do so through consistent online tutoring sessions. Michelle is not your average tutor, she goes above and beyond the call of duty for the families with whom she works. Michelle helped us navigate in and out of private school and back to public school and helped craft Ivan's IEP. Michelle offers me sound advice, books for me to read, and books for my son to read, games to play, conversation topics to have - all to ensure our son's success both in and out of school. Michelle has been an amazing gift to our family. I can't imagine a week without her."
This quote matches perfectly with how I feel about Ms. T. “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” Ms. T is a great teacher, and I will never forget any of the strategies she gave me.
We first met Michelle as our son’s teacher when he was in 1st grade. They developed a bond because my son finally found someone who understood how he learned. She then became, and still is, a tutor to both my son who is now in 7th grade and my daughter. Michelle will forever be a part of our family. She never gave up on our kids, and she taught them to never give up on themselves. She empowered our children with the knowledge of how to overcome their learning challenges by teaching them strategies that they could independently apply. She taught them how to advocate for themselves, and they now both love to read and enjoy going to school everyday! Her patience, passion, knowledge and approach are unparalleled.
"Michelle tutored my son and daughter for two consecutive summers when they were in elementary school. She tutored them online which was hugely helpful with our family's busy summer schedule. She worked directly with my children's teachers to review reading and math skills that were taught during the school year so they didn't loose those skills over the summer. It was very helpful to me to have Michelle explain the skills my children needed to review, and how I could help them with these skills as a parent. My kids enjoyed working with her and found her suggested reading materials very engaging, especially my son, who has always been a reluctant reader. We're so grateful to have found Michelle during a time when our kids needed an extra boost academically"
As a parent of a student with learning differences, I cannot recommend Michelle’s unique blend of literacy and learning support highly enough. Over the years, she has been a priceless resource to our family. Michelle has a beautiful and effective way of authentically connecting with students. She sees the greatness in every kid and is able to naturally, almost magically, draw that out. With an impressive depth of knowledge and experience, she offers an intentional and tailored approach to educational support. And… SHE IS SO FUN!!! Our two boys (each with their own set of special learning needs), simply could not wait to see her every time!
Michelle has been a one-of-a-kind special educator who has helped our family develop a true growth mind-set. Our son had Michelle as his first-grade teacher and has been tutoring with her for six years since. First, she worked with him in-person, to support his IEP goals centered around fluency and sound writing and helped him become more and more comfortable advocating for his own needs at school. When she moved to California several years ago, we began online tutoring. I wasn't sure how that would go, but she has been fantastic. As a constant learner herself, she has implemented new technology in her sessions that I believe will benefit students for their future -- as education is relying more and more on technology. She's now more of a learning coach helping our son stay on track with homework and project planning in multiple subject areas. His executive function skills have grown immensely with Michelle's help. The other thing about Michelle is that her training and experience have made her someone we have been able to consult with on establishing a proper IEP, following it through and ensuring appropriate assessment and implementation are happening, and understanding our rights as parents with the public school system. We could not be more grateful!
Ms. T changed my life when I really needed help. I was really struggling with my academics, and I needed someone to help me in my time of need. Then I met Ms. T. She saved me, and got me back on track. I became a straight A student, and I can read ten times better then before! I have Ms. T to thank for that!
